Since then she has held several management positions including Study Design and Operations Manager, Administrative Manager, Coordinating Center Manager, and now occupies the position as Deputy Director of Operations. She also has been the Biostatistics Program Manager for the FHCRC Public Health Sciences Division since 1994.
Ms. Glaefke has worked with statistical coordinating centers since 1977, in both project and operational unit management roles. In her operations management roles between 1977 and 1998 she worked closely with national committees of investigators in developing and implementing procedures and CRFs that met the study goals, facilitated study startup, and built on existing expertise and programs. She was also instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of quality control/assurance and data management training programs. In addition to these operational responsibilities, in her project management role she prepared financial reports and study progress reports, tracked budgets, planned and allocated space and equipment, and performed other general administrative functions.
In 2001 she introduced the concept of Lean Processing and Rapid Process Improvement to the HVTN and participated in the development of their streamlined protocol development process. She is a Rapid Process Improvement (RPI) instructor and has led a variety of RPI workshops within SCHARP. As a member of the SOP and Standards Committees, she has also been at the forefront of the Standard Operating Procedure and Work Practice Guideline development and implementation effort within SCHARP.
She serves as a member of the SCHARP Management Team and the Executive Leadership Group, providing these groups with administrative, personnel, policy, and fiscal advise and leadership. Her experience in both coordinating center operations and administration provides valuable insight and understanding required for managing these complex organizations in ways that are high quality, efficient, and effective.
In recognition of her experience and expertise, she received the 2002 Margaret T. Farwell Outstanding Staff Career Contributions Award. This award is given annually to an FHCRC Public Health Sciences staff member to recognize his or her significant professionalism, career contributions, and service.
