SCHARP Remote Access Instructions

To check your email from home, go to https://exchange.fhcrc.org/owa, and then enter your hutchid, and log in with your HutchNet ID and password.
* To access your SCHARP email from your home computer, please VPN in using the instructions below, then use the settings posted here to configure your outlook client. For thunderbird you can use the the documentation here (you must be vpn'ed in to see it, instructions below) to configure an imap connection to the FHCRC mail system.
* To access your SCHARP IMAP folders, please log into Hutch VPN using the instructions below. Then map your IMAP folders using the twiki instructions: here |

Webvpn will allow you to access internal FHCRC web-sites and SCHARP resources such as Windows and Linux Terminal Servers on the hutch network. Use the instructions below to get started:
Connect to VPN and log into Windows
* From Windows
* From a Mac
* From Linux: (requires root access via sudo and java enabled web browser) Open up your browser window and enter https://vpn.fhcrc.org, accept the self-signed certs and proceed with install. A full overview is available here

SSh Access:
Hutch IT maintains an ssh gateway called snail.fhcrc.org. You can log in, and authenticate with your Hutchnet credentials. From there you'll need to ssh to a machine that uses SCHARP DNS. You can ssh to statsrv.scharp.org, and from there, log into your desktop.
NoMachine From Your Machine: First you will need to connect to the Hutch Web VPN using the instructions above. Once you've connected, download and install the Nomachine client from the Nomachine website.
* Note: Windows users, please install all 4 additional font packages as well.
* Note: Mac users, you must have the X11 subsystem installed on your machine.
Once the install is complete, download the SCHARP pre-seeded configuration file from http://admin-c.scharp.org/nxbuilder/ClientDownload.php. If nxclient does not open automatically, save the file to your desktop, right click and select 'open with' then your nomachine installation. For detailed login instructions see below:

NoMachine from a Terminal Server: NoMachine is installed on both scharpterm.fhcrc.org and myna2.scharp.org. Simply log into webvpn as described above, and download the client configuration from http://admin-c.scharp.org/nxbuilder/ClientDownload.php. There's a link to the twiki at the bottom of the page if you would like a step by step walkthrough.
